Counting Fun!

Mrs. Vande Voorde has taken over our school garden and does such a great job getting the students involved in the process of planting, weeding, watering, picking, and decorating.  As you know, we have been collecting plastic lids all school year for a fun project they will be doing to help decorate the garden later this school year.  When Mrs. Vande Voorde said she was going to count all the lids herself, I volunteered our class to help. She sent us in a whole bunch of blue and green lids.  We sorted them first and then counted them.  The kids had a lot of fun in the process.  We estimated how many we thought their would be before counting and then put them in groups of 100.

Here are all the lids before we sorted them!

The kids had them sorted in no time at all!

After sorting them, we began counting them.  The students made ten rows of ten caps to make groups of 100.

We had a total of 2,254 lids!

We had a lot of fun with this project, I was amazed at how quickly the kids were able to sort and count all of the lids.  Great job boys and girls!
