Snow Much Fun in Kindergarten!

Please remember that students need to have full snow gear in order to play in the snow at recess.  All students go outside. Those without snow gear stay on the blacktop. :)

Super Hero Day, Team Spirit Day and Meatball Spaces... Oh My!

Super Hero Day was a blast!

Working hard with our meatball spacers during writing time!  Spaghetti noodle spaces go between our letters and meatball spaces go between our words!

Team Spirit Day!  GO PACKERS!

Pajama Day, Pumpkins, and the Jog-a-Thon!

The kids were very excited when they earned their first pajama day!  They did such a great job during our fire drill.  No tears, and everyone walked out quickly without covering their ears!

We painted some crazy pumpkins to hang in the hallway.  They will still be up for the Halloween Parade and Party!

The Blue Ribbon Celebration was a blast!  Whitney really enjoyed seeing all the big kids!  I loved seeing so many of my kindergarten faces!  I wish I could have gotten more pictures!

The kids were total ROCK STARS at the Jog-a-Thon today!  They were running machines!  Some of them ran 2 1/2 miles, and one little guy even ran THREE miles.  I was tired just from watching them!

And they're off!

What a FUN Week!

We had a blast learning about fire safety this week!  This kids were ROCK STARS during our surprise fired drill on Thursday!  I have never, in my 9 years of teaching, had a class remain so calm, cool, and collected during a surprise drill!  Not one student even covered their ears!  My reward for them doing such a fantastic job is a PJ day on Tuesday!

We are continuing to work on letter names and sounds.  While many of the students have already mastered all 52 letter names, we are working on being fluent and doing them quickly.  I made a new center game last weekend to help with that and the kids really seemed to enjoy it this week.

We also played a fun game as a class that worked on letter names.  I threw letters all over our classroom carpet and students had to find every letter of alphabet and put them in order the quickest.  They worked in three groups and they did such a fantastic job!

On Thursday, Pecatonica Fire Department came to talk to the students about fire safety and we practiced bus safety!

As you can see, we had a very exciting week!  Unfortunately, I had to leave a little early on Friday, I got a call from my daughter's school that she was sick.  I realized when we were at the doctor's office, that I never told my sub to put their homework in their folder for next week.  I will make sure it gets home on Tuesday!  Thanks for understanding.

I can't wait for another fun and exciting week in Kindergarten next week!

WOW!

What an amazing week for our school!  I was super excited to come back today to celebrate our school receiving the National Blue Ribbon award.  What an honor to be working at such an awesome elementary school.  I was flying high on cloud 9 today. As we began our morning, another AWESOME surprise happened.  Channel 13(WREX) came into our classroom with news camera's rolling.  Lily and her family nominated me for WREX's Teacher of the Week.  I feel so blessed to get to come to work every day and do what I love.  I appreciate that you send your children to me every day and trust me to take care of them.
We got to have a dance party at our school wide assembly this morning!

Unity Day

Unity Day is probably one of my favorite days of the school year.  It is such a unique and awesome opportunity for our students to get to work together with peers of different ages to solve problems and complete tasks.  I try to find each of my students throughout the day to get pictures of them at their stations, but this year I didn't find too many of them.

This was the banana pass.  Students had to get the banana from one end of the line to the other without using their hands!  It got a little tricky!

Students had to make a contraption to keep an egg from breaking that was dropped out of the science lab window!

We did have a little down time in between stations!

This station was fun!  Students had to get balls from one end of the black top to the other without it touching the ground and without using their hands or arms!

Students had to find the hidden treasure in the water using only their toes!

We are patiently waiting our turn for the next station!

Students had to work together as a team to get the water from one bucket to the next!

This station was very tricky!  Students had to walk together, moving the boards underneath them!

Tennis ball transfer was another really trick station.  They had to move the tennis ball from one cone to another using only the contraption provided!

Students had to move the ball on the tarp and drop it through the hole and into a small bucket!

This was a silent station where students had to use the pieces to make five squares that were all the same size.

Don't step on a land mine Mrs. Sipes!

Spy Kids Training was a favorite!

This was like a human hamster wheel!

Using only strings and rubber bands, the students had to build a red solo cup tower.

This station was a relay race where they had to transfer as much water as possible from one bucket to the next only using the sponge provided.

Water balloon volley ball was another big hit!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO MS. HOFFMAN AND ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHO MADE TODAY POSSIBLE!
