Kindergarten Fun!

I am so excited to announce that we were recipients of a Donor's Choose grant.  We got 18 brand NEW hard cover books for our classroom.  I will be using them throughout the year to teach reading and writing lessons.  I have already read a few of them just for fun, and the kids are LOVING them!

During Shared Reading we have been working with the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  The students have been working on predictions, making connections, retelling, and problem and solution.  They are doing such a fantastic job in their interactive journals.  I am super proud of them!

Early finishers get to head to our reading carpet and look at some books!

During Word Work, we have been working on the letters/sounds for t, b, and f.  We have also been working on letter formation for those three letters.  Today we did a sound sort.  Students looked at the pictures and had to decide if the picture started with the t sound or with the f sound.  They did a great job!

The kids have told me almost every day that kindergarten is hard work.  I agree!  But they are doing such a nice job and are working so hard to get the hang of full day kindergarten!
