New Friends!

We have a new friend in our class today!   We are having a lot of fun welcoming her!

 

We eat snack as a class everyday.  Please make sure that your child has something to eat for snack!  You can send in snack for them to keep in their locker, or send it daily.  I have some snack for kids who don't have any right now, but when that is gone, I will no longer be providing snacks for students.

 

We have had a lot of fun practicing addition with our dominoes this week.  We have played Clockominoes two times to help us practice counting on.

Second Day!

We had a great second day!  Please remember to send a note or let the office know when you will be picking up your child.   If you unexpectedly pick up your child, please sign them out with Mrs. Steinborn.

First Day!

We had a fabulous first day back to school.  The kids were WONDERFUL, and we had a lot of fun.  We took some time to talk about rules at school and how to make good choices.  We practiced following the rules on the playground this morning.  We also did some vocabulary practice and some math review today.  All in all, it was a really great first day and I am sure the second will be just as great!

I need your Back to School Night forms filled out as soon as possible!

Snack - I had quite a few kids without snack today.  Please make sure you are sending snack to school with your child if s/he wants it.  You can send is as much as you would like and keep it in his/her locker.  I will send a little note home when they are running low.

Book Orders - I had our first book order in your Back to School Night folder, those orders are due August 31st.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back!  I look forward to seeing all of your adorable faces at Back to School Night tomorrow!  Please have your child bring all of his/her supplies.  Back to School night is from 6:20 to 6:50!  See you then!

PTO Family Fun Fair

My girls and I headed out to the Family Fun Fair at Sumner Park.  Thank you to the PTO for putting on a wonderful event for families to enjoy for free.  Kids got to jump on bounce houses, enjoy popcorn, munch on snowcones, have three legged races, and make picture frames all for FREE.  Of course there was more to do, but I can't list them all!  Hopefully this is an annual thing.  Everyone there seemed to be having a great time.  I was lucky because I got to see quite a few new second graders that are now technically my former students.

Track and Field Day!

The weather wasn't perfect, but we got in all but 5 of our track and field day events before the weather started to look icky.  The kids had a blast and it was a wonderful way to spend the day together. 
P.S.  Tyler challenged me numerous times yesterday to a race.  He informed me that he is WAY faster than me.  We raced today, I won, and then did a cartwheel.  :)

 

 

 

I just want to say thank you one more time for sharing your child with me (most of you for two years).  As a mom, I know how stressful it can be sending your child to someone else for a whole day.  When we first met, we were strangers, and we are leaving a family.  I cherish your children and hope that you keep in touch throughout the years.  I feel very honored to have had the chance to get to know each and every one of the students in my class this year.  It is bittersweet sending them off to second grade.  I know they will do great, but I am going to miss them terribly.

Your child should be receiving a small package in the mail from me shortly.  I wanted to hand them their DVD's today as they left, but due to crashing hard drives and non-working operating systems on my home computer, the DVD was not able to be finished on time.  I will add on our track and field day pictures and stick them in the mail as soon as we have a working computer at home.   I hope you all enjoy your summer and I look forward to seeing your child in the halls next year!
