Our First Grade Feast!

We had so much fun at our first grade feast today!  We were busy busy busy!  When we got there each first grade class performed their skit.  I was so proud of the kids in my class.  They did so well and remembered to use their loud voices!  After that, the kids split into groups and made Pilgrim hats or Indian head dresses.  About the time they finished that, Mr. Faller showed up and took the kids on a hike.  It was chilly, but they survived!  When they returned from the hike, they rotated through centers.  They played pilgrim games, made beadwork bracelets, colored turkeys, visited our Thanksgiving photo booth and listened to a Thanksgiving story.  Then it was time for our FEAST!  The kids were served a turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, stuffing, juice and PUMPKIN PIE WITH WHIPPED CREAM! The kids had so much fun and so did I!  It is so much fun being able to take them on adventures like this one where they can make memories together!

Holiday Party 2013!

Just a little heads up for planning purposes!  Our Holiday Party will be on Thursday, December 19th at 2:15!  I really enjoyed seeing the snow on my way to Pec this morning, but I am oh so happy it did NOT stick.  While I love seeing the kids run around and play in the snow, I really despise driving in it.  I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

We practiced our Thanksgiving skit for Mrs. Rawhoof's class today.  The kids did such a great job!

Feast Preparation!

We have been busy preparing for our feast this week!  We are working on our Thanksgiving skit, learning about Pilgrims and Native Americans, and making placemats for the feast.  Today the kids worked on their placemats, they used real Native American symbols on their mats.   Thank you to everyone who donated to the feast fun!  The kids will be enjoying turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, stuffing, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream topping.  We will also be serving juice for our drink.  The kids are really excited and so am I!  I promise to take lots of pictures and I will try my best to get them uploaded to the blog before we leave for Thanksgiving break.  Fear not, if they are not up before the kids come home on Tuesday, I will put them up when my girls take their nap on Wednesday!

We also made a list of the things we are most thankful for.  I did not help the kids at all, other than to record their answers.  I was really impressed with the things they thought of.  What a marvelous group of kids!

Pizza Party

We had so much fun making and eating our pizza this morning.  I was really surprised how many students wanted olives on their pizza!  The pizzas were delicious and we got to watch Chicken Little while we were waiting for our personal pizza's to cook.  Tomorrow we are going to read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and decide who's story we believe.
